Your Pocono Summer Wellness Guide: Hemp, Hiking & Finding Your Balance

Reading Time: ~7 minutes | Category: Wellness Lifestyle / Local Pocono

Summer in the Pocono Mountains hits differently than anywhere else in Pennsylvania — and if you've spent real time here, you know exactly what that means.

There's a particular quality to late June in this region. The light comes in long and gold across the ridge before most people have finished their first cup of coffee. The Delaware River runs clear and cool after spring rain. The weekend exodus from New York and Philadelphia fills the back roads with people who drove two or three hours for the one thing the Poconos uniquely provide: the exhale.

And then there are the people who chose to stay. The locals who know where the trails go quiet by 7am. The families who have been coming to Wallenpaupack every July since before their kids were old enough to paddle. The newcomers who moved up from the city and haven't looked back.

We are those newcomers. East Stroudsburg is our home now — and the Pocono Mountains are our community. We built Elevated Flowers for this region specifically, for the people who live here and the people who discover it each summer for the first time. And this guide is our attempt to share what we've learned about how botanical hemp wellness and the Pocono outdoor lifestyle fit together more naturally than most people expect.

Know Your Terrain: Why the Poconos Are Different

Before we talk about hemp wellness, we want to talk about the place — because context matters, and this place is worth knowing.

The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area protects 70,000 acres of river valley, ridgeline, and hardwood forest along the Pennsylvania–New Jersey border. The Appalachian Trail runs directly through it. The summit of Mount Tammany rewards the climb with a view that makes the descent feel secondary. The swimming holes are real. The Delaware River below Dunnfield Creek is the kind of cold-water reset that every overheated summer body is looking for.

Bushkill Falls — called the Niagara of Pennsylvania, and rightfully so — sits eight miles north of East Stroudsburg. Eight waterfalls through a hemlock gorge, accessible by a network of trails that range from a flat boardwalk to a genuine ridge scramble. It is the kind of place that reminds you, without requiring you to think about it, that nature does not need optimization. It just needs your presence.

Lake Wallenpaupack sits to the north — 5,700 acres of the largest lake in Pennsylvania, built for kayaking, paddleboarding, and the particular kind of slow summer afternoon that only happens on still water surrounded by mountain air. Dingmans Falls in the Delaware State Forest is one of the most beautiful waterfall walks in the entire northeast, and most people who drive past the turnoff on Route 739 have no idea it's there.

Jim Thorpe, an hour south, is where the Lehigh River runs white and the Victorian architecture climbs the hillside and the trails go steep enough to earn the downhill. Camelback Mountain runs summer zip lines and hiking above Tannersville. The Delaware State Forest covers over 700,000 protected acres of the Pocono Plateau.

We are saying all of this because we mean it: this is one of the most genuinely beautiful, most underappreciated outdoor wellness destinations in the northeastern United States. And the people who live here and visit here are, in our experience, among the most intentional, active, and wellness-oriented adults in this part of the country.

Hemp wellness belongs here. We are building something here because we believe that.

The Morning Ritual: Before the Trail Starts

The best Pocono summer days start early. The mist is still on the river at 6am. The trailheads are quiet before 7. If you are heading to the Water Gap, putting in on the Delaware, or packing for a full day at Wallenpaupack, the morning you build matters for everything that follows.

A botanical hemp morning routine does not need to be complicated to be consistent — and consistency is where it earns its place.

Full-Spectrum CBD Tinctures are the most common starting point for a daily botanical wellness ritual. A few drops under the tongue, held for sixty seconds, taken the same way you'd take any daily supplement. Full-spectrum options preserve the complete range of naturally occurring cannabinoids and terpenes from the hemp plant — including CBD, CBG, and minor cannabinoids that work in concert. Our tincture range, when we open, will run from 500mg for those just beginning to 3,000mg for experienced users.

CBD Capsules are the right choice for mornings when you're heading out early and want precision without fuss. Pre-dosed, no measuring, no dropper — just the capsule alongside whatever else is already in your morning routine. They travel in any pack without a second thought.

Botanical Hemp Tea is the ritual within the ritual. Something warm, intentional, and botanical before the activity begins. Five minutes of holding a mug before the first trail step of the day changes the quality of that day in ways that are genuinely hard to explain until you've built the habit.

The idea is not to add complexity to your morning. It is to add one deliberate anchor before the noise begins.

On the Trail: What to Pack

Anyone who has spent a full day on the Mount Tammany loop knows that the descent to the river after the summit is where the legs remember every step of the climb. The third hour on the Delaware reminds you that arms are muscles too. A full afternoon at Dingmans Falls, if you take every trail option, is more miles than it looks on the map.

Two additions worth making room for in the trail bag:

CBD Topicals — compact roll-ons and travel-sized balms are among the most practical plant-based support items for active bodies. Applied directly to the areas that are working hardest — calves after a long descent, lower back after a sustained paddle, shoulders after a climbing session — they require no ingestion, no timing, no planning ahead. Just applied when needed, directly where needed. They take up less space than a protein bar and are used by a growing number of hikers, cyclists, and outdoor athletes who prefer a plant-based approach to recovery support.

Hemp Botanical Beverages — CBD-infused teas and hemp wellness drinks are a different kind of trail hydration. Something with botanical intention alongside the electrolytes and water you're already carrying. A mid-trail break with a botanical beverage at a Dingmans Falls overlook, or at the summit bench on Tammany, is the kind of specific reset that reframes the second half of any outdoor day.

All topical and beverage products from Elevated Flowers will be hemp-derived and third-party lab tested. Certificates of Analysis available via QR code on every product.

Summer Gatherings: The Botanical Alternative

Pocono summer social life is its own category. Lakeside gatherings at Wallenpaupack. Backyard evenings in East Stroudsburg and Stroudsburg. Deck dinners in the vacation rentals that fill every summer weekend with people who drove up from the city looking for something different.

And increasingly, at those gatherings, the question is shifting. Not "what are we drinking" — but "what do we actually want?"

The sober-curious movement, the mindful drinking conversation, and the broader shift toward intentional consumption are not abstract trends. They are the people at your barbecue choosing something botanical over a beer. They are the parents who want to be fully present for the evening. The professionals who have discovered that the Sunday after a sober Saturday feels categorically different. The athletes who have learned that what they drink after the workout matters as much as the workout itself.

Hemp botanical beverages — CBD-infused sparkling drinks, herbal tea blends, and functional hemp wellness drinks — were built for exactly this. The ritual of something intentional in your hand. Real flavor without compromise. The ability to be present at the table without what comes after a few glasses in summer heat.

This is one of the product categories we are most excited to bring to Monroe County.

The Evening Wind-Down: Recovery Done Right

Here is a wellness truth that most active people actively resist: recovery is part of the workout. And it is consistently the part that gets skipped.

Whether you have spent the day on the Water Gap trails, paddling the Delaware, chasing kids at Camelback, or simply living the long and generous version of a Pocono summer day — your body has done real work. The wind-down ritual is how you honor it.

CBD Gummies — pre-dosed, consistent, and approachable — are one of the most reliable botanical wind-down products available. Vegan and non-GMO options deliver the same experience every time, taken as part of an intentional evening routine.

CBD Tinctures, evening dose — many customers who begin their morning with a tincture return to it in the evening as a bookend to the day. The morning ritual and the evening ritual create a daily botanical arc that compounds quietly over time. Most people who maintain it for two weeks consistently describe a shift in how the mornings feel.

CBD Topicals — balms, salves, and creams applied directly after a long active day to the areas that worked hardest. This is the recovery step that too many people skip. Our topical range will run from lightweight daily-use creams to rich, concentrated balms for targeted post-activity support.

And then: the porch. The Pocono evening air going cool across the ridge. Whatever you choose to put in your hands while the light leaves the sky.

That is the ritual. It does not need to be more complicated.

Something Is Coming to East Stroudsburg

Elevated Flowers is arriving in the Pocono Mountains — and when we open our doors in East Stroudsburg, we are bringing a botanical wellness experience that this region has not had before.

We are not ready to share everything yet. There is a particular element of the in-store experience that we have been building carefully, and that we are keeping close for now. What we can tell you is this: when we say education-first botanical wellness boutique, we mean it in the most specific and most experiential sense of those words. Walking through our doors will not feel like any hemp retail experience you have encountered before.

We will be 21+ only. We will carry hemp flower, THCA flower, full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD products, botanical beverages, and pet wellness products. Every product will have a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis from an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited third-party lab — available on request, on every product, every time.

The best way to be the first to know when we open — and to find out what we have been building — is to join our list.

You've probably heard us say it before: every product at Elevated Flowers has a COA available. But what does that actually mean? And more importantly — do you know how to read one?

A Certificate of Analysis can look overwhelming at first glance. Numbers, abbreviations, panels, thresholds. But once you know what each section means, it becomes one of the most powerful tools you have as a hemp consumer.

This is your complete, section-by-section guide.

If you've spent any time shopping for hemp or CBD products, you've probably seen the letters "COA" — maybe printed on a label, linked via QR code, or referenced on a retailer's website. But what exactly is a COA, and why should it matter to you as a consumer?

The answer is straightforward: a COA is one of the clearest signals that a hemp brand is being honest with you.
